What preparations should be made before taking a sauna?
As a traditional health preservation method, sauna can promote blood circulation and help detoxify and relieve stress. However, incorrect operation methods may backfire and even pose health risks. The correct steps for sauna treatment include preparation, sauna, and follow-up care, ensuring the scientific and safe enjoyment of the health benefits brought by sauna.
Preparation before sauna
(1) Supplement water
Steam sauna will cause a lot of sweating, it is recommended to drink about 500ml of warm water or electrolyte water 30 minutes in advance to avoid dehydration. Do not enter the sauna room on an empty stomach or when you are too full. Fasting may cause hypoglycemia, while being full can affect digestion.
(2) Clean the body
Before entering the sauna room, rinse the body with warm water to remove oil and dirt from the skin surface, increase pore permeability, and make sweating smoother. Avoid using shower gel or soap to avoid affecting sweat secretion.
(3) Choose the appropriate temperature and time
For first-time users, it is recommended to start at low temperatures (50-60 ℃) for 10-15 minutes each time, and gradually extend to 20 minutes after adaptation. Traditional Finnish saunas have higher temperatures (80-100 ℃), while infrared saunas (40-60 ℃) are more suitable for sensitive people.
